Mysterious Children Statue, 5 December 2020

Biking by the Sulzer Regional Library on Lincoln Avenue I noticed the, already strange, statue of children on a log had been fitted with some books, to make it look like they were reading, so had to snap a photo.

In researching for the posting of this photo however I’ve come across something perplexing… This statue isn’t on map that I can find. It’s not considered part of the Chicago Park District collection and the Conrad Sulzer Library makes no reference to it. Even thorough searches of geo-tagged public images on Flickr only yields one result, from 2009, and just refers to it as “Missing Thumb Statue” due to the missing thumb on the girl. I am baffled and now need to solve this mystery. Wikipedia makes no mention of it. The Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce has no reference to it. Nothing on Yelp, or FourSquare… It’s like it doesn’t exist.
